Australian Truckies Memorial at Tarcutta an event to remember!

Category: Country NSW

The Tarcutta Annual Remembrance Service for Truckies that have died has a huge turnout of mourners every year.

Ever wondered how many truckies look after Australia and how many die each year.

A quick Google search will make you realise that driving a truck for a living is quite dangerous compared to Pilots and Lion tamers.

Hundreds of families at Tarcutta NSW to mourn their truck driving loved ones

Located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne and at the Junction of the Hume and Sturt Highways the truckies memorial a 2 hour was a beautiful celebration of their lives

Featuring songs prayers readings laying flowers and huge list of names of truck drivers with their chosen nick names and call signs.

An address by Geoff Rudd enlightened and educated the public how the lives of truckies has changed over the last 70 years from his first hand experience

Geoff wanted everyone to know that most of the Drivers died doing what they loved and in most cases their deaths were caused by extenuating circumstances

not their own faults. He pointed out most accidents in years gone by were due to poor roads, long load times, time wasting paperwork and unscrupulous company demands

and vehicle maintenance.
