Belated happy Australia Day to all Famil Club readers...
As everyone heads back to work and school in Australia, I thought these photos were a quirky way to say g'day-and wish you well for the year ahead, in spite of the tough economic climate we're facing.
'If you follow a path with no obstacles, it likely doesn't lead anywhere.' CDV Hot Lemon & Honey-Reflections for Success in Times of Change
I was in the US when Barack Obama was elected on a campaign of hope and change-two of my favourite topics. He has a rough road ahead with unbelievably high expectations on his shoulders-but regardless of one's politics, it's hard to argue that he is an amazing speaker & an inspiring leader. Leaders in all organisations need to combine hope, with positive action to move forward in spite of global gloom & doom. This serious economic situation should not be trivialized on stage with platitudes and rah, rah, rahs that lack substance.
It's a time to look at what we do that adds true value-not just cost-to every aspect of our organisation. It's a time to look at what we've always done and determine if we need to keep doing it, modify it or get rid of it. Like a woodcutter, it's a time to sharpen our saw-and sharpen our thinking. It's a time to be innovative-and a time to return to basics. If that last sentence sounds contradictory, the key-as always-is timing and having the wisdom to know when to do what!
Top actors know the importance of timing. What do Russell Crowe, Geoffrey Rush & Cate Blanchett have in common? They're all Australians, all Oscar winners and all had their photo taken at the Australia Day lunch, where I was again honoured to be an Australia Day ambassador. As for me...well, I once had a neighbour with a dog called Oscar! :-) But, am a more affordable performer than the others for your next conference! :-) Let me know if I can help your team refocus on the challenges ahead-and then customise a presentation that combines serious substance with humour, to get the results you're after-to boost your bottom line and staff morale.
And, for any bookings made within the next 30 days for any date in 2009, you'll receive a bonus $500 value of copies of either: Hope Happens-words of Encouragement for Tough Times or Hot Lemon & Honey-Reflections for Success in Times of Change.
But, whether you're having a conference or not, here's to a great 2009-a time for hope and a time to take ACT..ion.
